- In what ways have the time periods of American history affected the actions of groups of people?

This week, students are exploring biographies in their classrooms.
On Thursday, students will mark their top three choices from the biographies available. On Monday, they will know which American they will become an expert on, and the in-depth study will begin!
Over the next six weeks, students will read and reread their notable American's biography, write and illustrate their own biography about them, create art projects to show facts about them, and more!
Students have already started creating the "skeletons" of their notable American puppets in the Shared Space!
The study will culminate in a Wax Museum presentation, during which each student will dress up as their chosen notable American and share their learning. Stay tuned for more details about this exciting event!
How can you help? You are welcome to do further research with your child at home using the internet or other resources you might find, or to send resources to school for your child to use as we engage in the research process. As your child learns more about their notable American, you might discuss:
- What do you admire about your American?
- What are some important events in your American's life that you hope to teach people about?
- Who are some other Americans you have read about and what are they known for?
- If someone wrote a biography about you someday, what would you want to be known for?
